More Filming

Next we filmed the inside shots and took some more photos which we will use on the 'stalker board'. We needed two actors in order to film the opening of our film. We decided it would be useful and simple, if we used Myself and Mike as the actors as then we wouldn't need to worry about where our actors would be, as we could always film in our actual media lessons. However, we needed a number of females to help us, as they could be used as our main characters 'stalker' victims in a series of unsettling photos. The reason we decided to use just girls, was as we felt it was a stereotypical view of a a typical horror film, and we were set on sticking to the codes and conventions of horror.

Filming

We have started filming! It was fairly damp on the floor and we decided to shot some outside shots of our 'villain' climbing the stairs to his victims room. We thought about the variety of shots we could use and decided to a selection of shots when our villain steps through the door. We enjoyed shooting the first scenes, and felt that when edited together the opening scene would be eerie to view. Here I have included some photos that we will be using in the actual film, as part of the stalker/photo board that the villain is creating of his victims.

Storyboard-Analysis

Throughout the filming process, we constantly referred to our storyboards, as we wanted our film opening to be as we had imagined it. As I don't really enjoy drawing our the storyboarded, I completed the first three sheets, and Mike, who is also in my group, finished them off. Although, we were pleased with the storyboards, we did in some cases change some features like shot types and length of scenes, as we thought it looked better on the day.

Final Idea

For our final horror film opening we decided upon having a stalker character who has a young, female captured in an abandoned flat. We thought this storyline suited that of a typical horror film and we felt this would accurately engage our target audience. For the opening few shots we liked the idea of having a photo wall, which the stalker had made himself, and did extreme close ups and midshots to show these photos. Whilst we had story-boards and pre-conceived ideas concerning the way we wanted our film to look, we did sometimes alter particular parts if we felt they would look better. When coming up with ideas we liked the idea of incorporating newspaper cuttings, (as shown in the board of cuttings and photos the stalker has made), so we came up with using newspaper cuttings for the titles and having them blow away, at the end. This proved to be a effective way to show the name of our film and actor names.

Another way we felt we could adhere to the codes and conventions of the typical horror opening was by using high angled shots which made the female character look vulnerable and helpless. We also used a CCTV effect, to make it seem like she was being watched, also we liked the way we could cut between the CCTV shots and our villian coming up the stairs.

Group Roles

We decided to allocate roles for each member of the group so that we all were responsible for a certain aspect of the project. By sharing the roles equally we could be sure that we all worked to our full potential.

If we had disputes throughout the project we made sure that we let everyone have their say, to ensure that we were all able to contribute to the final product. Overall, I felt we worked well as a group, as we stuck to our time plan, and created a film opening to be proud of.
